William Harold May

Mr. William Harold May, 87, died Friday, September 23, 2016, at his home. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at First Baptist Church Chapel. The funeral will follow at Noon, with the Rev. Jeff Bedwell and the Rev. Ralph Riley officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery. Born in Greensboro, N.C., Mr. May was the only child born to the late Burton Everett May and Leacy Hockett May. He served as an officer in the U.S. Marie Corps during the Korean War and was recently honored as the oldest living Marine in Fort Mill. Mr. May graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He was retired from Home Lite and was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. May enjoyed gardening and was a Master Gardner.Surviving are his children, Susan Chavis of Fort Mill and William “Bo” May and his wife, Andrea Maranto May of Mountain Brook, Ala.; and grandchildren, Grayson, Banks and Gabrielle.
