Walter Dantzler Jones

Mr. Walter Dantzler Jones, age 73, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Atrium Health Care in Pineville.The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Friday, April 23 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Pleasant Hill UMC, with Rev. Joel McMakin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Born in Clinton, SC Walter, better known as Walt, was the son of the late William Elbert Jones and Frances Coates Jones. He attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from UNC-Charlotte. His career was as a certified public accountant but his passion was woodworking and showing love to not only his family but those all around him. He worked at General Electric and then later in Private practice. He built his family home and he spent much time creatively constructing and doing home projects. He loved to read and study religious history in his free time.To say Walt’s heart was giving would be an understatement. His love for entertaining and embracing life to the fullest was demonstrated by how much he enjoyed providing memorable experiences for his friends and family. He spent a lot of time on the dance floor swing dancing with Betty and loved music. He loved sharing God’s love through teaching adult Sunday school and showing even strangers unconditional love. He was a loyal friend and lifted up those around him by encouraging them to reach their goals and dream big.He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Vassey Jones, his Wife of 51 years. He loved to tell his Grandchildren with a twinkle in his eye that he knew the minute he saw her that she would be his wife. Surviving are his children, David William Jones (Mary) and Jenny Baber Jones Lutz (Gene) all of Charlotte; his sister, Peggy Jones of Mansfield, TX; and three granddaughters, Hanna, Abby and Michal Lutz.Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill UMC Building Fund, 238 Fort Mill Hwy, Indian Land, SC 29707.Read Obituary
