Wade G. Lawrence, 93, of 2306 Hwy. 55 E, Clover, SC went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, September 8, 2021. Born in Jefferson City, TN, Wade was the loving husband of Frances Ann Osborne Lawrence and the son of the late Rev. Samuel J. Lawrence and Nellie Stroup Lawrence Forsythe of the Steele Creek Community of Charlotte, NC. A quiet but devout Christian, Wade’s life gave living witness to the testimony of his faith as he strove to live each day with patience, humility, humor, and love. A graduate of John Brown University of Arkansas (Electrical Engineering), Wade worked in radio and television for over 50 years retiring from WBTV after 42 years as a Master Controller for the station. A US Air Force Sergeant, Wade served as a Radio Engineer out of Stewart AFB, TN from 1948-1952. Wade was a current member of the Community Church of Lake Wylie (RHCC), but a former member of the Zoar United Methodist Church of Charlotte where he served as Lay Leader, Cemetery Trustee Chairman, Western NC Lay Conference Messenger and choir member for over 50 years. Wade’s easy-going manner, engaging personality, and quick smile earned him scores of friends wherever he went. He adored his bride of 71 years, loved serving the Lord and his church, and treasured time with his family. He enjoyed gardening, music, tv and radio repair and home renovation projects. Along with his wife Frances, Wade is survived by his three children, Barry Lawrence (Lynn) of Gaffney, William “Billy” Lawrence of Clover, and Susan Lawrence Joye of Fort Mill, SC, his three grandchildren, Becky Joye (Craig Kerins) of Raleigh, NC, Melissa Bancroft (Corey) of Lexington, SC, and Robert Lawrence (Hannah) of Salt Lake City, UT, and five great-grandchildren, Jack Kerins, Medina, Mica and Charlie Bancroft, and Ayden Best. Wade also leaves behind his brother James Lawrence (Elaine) of West Palm Beach, FL, and sister Jewel Little of Rock Hill, SC. Wade was preceded in death by his infant sister, Nellie, and three grandchildren, Amy Joye Best and Matthew and Michael Lawrence. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 1:45pm on Sunday, September 12 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC. Funeral services will be immediately following at 2:00 pm with burial at the Zoar UMC Cemetery, Zoar Road, Charlotte, NC. The family can be found at 100 Shalimar Dr., Gaffney, SC.
