Thomas Franklin Sloan

Thomas Franklin Sloan, age 65, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at his home.Born in Charlotte, N.C., Tommy was a son of the late Edward Wilson Sloan and Thelma Lucille Stewart “Pete” Sloan. He graduated from CPCC with an Associates in Applied Science. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict as an Engine Mechanic for four years and with 2 years of in-active reserves. Served on USS Chewaucan and USS Hunley. Tommy retired from U.S. Post Office after 26 years of service, where he was an electronics technician, and was a Reiki Master as well as a Quantum Touch Practitioner. Tommy was a member of Second Baptist Church. He enjoyed tinkering, building computers and loved movies, where he had a collection of hundreds of movies.Surviving are his wife of six years, Yvonne Pauline (Lapierre) Sloan; his daughter, Christy Barton of Wells, NY; stepsons, Jason Cahill (Robin) of Mapleville, RI and Kevin Cahill (Kelly) of Oakland, RI; his brother, John “Jay” Sloan (Linda) of Monroe, NC; two sisters, Gwen Query (Kress) of Matthews, NC and Teresa Helms (Will) VA; two grandchildren, Dylan and Laney; and 3 step-grandchildren, Alexis, Olivia, Savannah. He also had several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on August 25, 2018, at Second Baptist Church, 1218 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC with Pastor Mark Bradley and Chaplain Carl Morton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, P.O.
