Sarah Catherine Funderburk

Mrs. Sarah Catherine Wolfe Funderburk, age 100, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, at her home surrounded by her children. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 Belair United Methodist Church in Indian Land. Rev. Mallory Nickerson and Rev. Gail Beaudrot will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Born in Mineral Springs, North Carolina, Sarah was a daughter of the late June Nesbitt Wolfe and Annie Lemmonds Wolfe. She graduated from Indian Land High School. Sarah retired from Springs Mills and was a member of Belair United Methodist Church. Family was the most important part of her life. She loved spending time and sharing meals with her children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. Her hobbies included both vegetable and flower gardening. Sarah is survived by six children, Shirley Mauney (d. Henry) of Fort Mill, Ronnie Funderburk (Elaine) of Mooresville, N.C, Betty Brakefield (Gene) of York, Wade Funderburk (Terrie) of Fort Mill, Rita Osborne (Beauford) of York, Cathy Caston (d. Sammy) of Fort Mill; three sisters, Frances Coley of Rock Hill, Louise Riddle of Fort Mill, and JoAnn Bouknight of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianne Faile; her son Earl Funderburk; three brothers, William, Larry, and Stitt Wolfe; two sisters, Emily Comer and June Starnes; and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Brakefield.
