Rev. Mickey Smith

Rev. Mickey Gene Smith, age 87, went home to the Lord he loved and served on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at The Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene. The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Josh Fite, the Rev. Harry Widener and the Rev. Ron Fite officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Sarah Catherine Jones Smith of the home; son, Timothy Scott Smith and his wife Diana, both of Fort Mill; grandson, Timothy Smith II; granddaughter, Ashton Grace Cassell great-grandson, Bentley Cooper Merritt, all of Fort Mill; great-granddaughter, Avalyn Leighay Brumfield; and a host of relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kirby D. Smith.Rev. Smith was born October 15, 1934 in Brooklyn, Mississippi, to the late James Michael Smith and Grace Reid Smith. He attended Southern Mississippi and received his bachelor’s degree from Trevecca College (University). A true man of God, Rev. Smith spent 62 years preaching the word of the Lord. He pastored for more than 35 years, serving churches in Brookhaven, MS; Oklahoma City, OK; Greenville, SC; Fort Mill, SC; McComb, MS; Evansville, IN; New Castle, IN; and Monroe, NC. Following his pastoral ministry, he spent 24 years as an evangelist in revival meetings, camp meetings, and special services.
