Ray C. Hensley

Mr. Ray Clyde Hensley, 81, of Fort Mill, died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the home of his daughter, Kathy in Bessemer City, N.C. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Glen Rock Baptist Church, 1815 Doby’s Bridge Road in Fort Mill, S.C., with the Rev. Gene Flack officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, S.C.Born in Fort Mill, Mr. Hensley was a son of the late Benjie Edward Hensley and Nellie Jane Brown Hensley. He retired from Westinghouse, where he was a generator assembler. Mr. Hensley also retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a member of the Catawba Masonic Lodge No. 56; the Fort Mill V.F.W. and the Eli Bailes American Legion Post No. 43. Mr. Hensley was a former member of Glen Rock Baptist Church. He enjoyed shooting pool.Surviving are his daughter, Katherine Denise “Kathy” Clark of Bessemer City, N.C.; three sons, Danny Hensley of Peachland, N.C., Charlie Hensley of Cherryville, N.C. and Paul Hensley of Bostic, N.C.; his brother, Billy Hensley of Fort Mill; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Wilma Lipe Hensley; his brothers, Ladd, Wade, Albert, Joe and Haston Hensley; and his sisters, Margaret Belt, Lacy Helms, Flossie Cook and Rosa Neely.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Wolfe Funeral Home.Read Obituary
