Mr. Peter G. McGourty, Jr., 15, of Fort Mill, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his home.A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with Father John Giuliani, C.O. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.Born in Rock Hill, Peter attended Fort Mill Elementary School, Fort Mill Middle School, and Nations Ford High School. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Peter was an avid reader and was very good at Putt Putt golf. He enjoyed playing video games and had high hopes of working in video game design and development. Peter had the gift of putting others at ease – animals and humans! Blessed with a great sense of humor, Peter made all those around him laugh.Surviving are mother, Pamela Jo Anderson McGourty of Fort Mill; father, Peter Gerald McGourty, Sr. and wife, Lori, of Statesville, N.C.; brother, Joseph Peter McGourty of the home; maternal grandmother, Maybelle Anderson of Fort Mill; and paternal grandmother, Mary T. 8 years next month, still doesn’t process. I wonder what you’d think of all this Covid stuff. I wonder all the time what college you would’ve went to, what ideas for art & virtual design you’d have. I remember everything. Every time I receive flowers, I always lay one out for you near my well.
I remember going to grandmas or the beach and playing Mario kart and so many video games for hours straight ,all the nights watching movies together, laughing at YouTube videos, making up battles with legos and Star Wars toys, dressing up and reenacting movies,making comedy videos, everything, those were the best years of my life and thank you for giving that gift to me. It all felt easy and right and you were such a bright spirit of light i would’ve been lost without it brightening my day.You always made me laugh with your humor and we’d make jokes or hypotheticals for hours on end laughing so hard we couldn’t breathe, I think of you every day of every hour and it’s so dark without you. Half of me is gone without you.
I'm so sorry. He is with you, just not in physical form, which I know hurts beyond words, but he IS with you. Keep talking to him. He hears you and is sending you signs of that too. And take care of yourself. You know he wants you happy.
I think about you every single day, my dear pal. Our gym buddy, the one who always made us laugh.

Peter My Dear son. I miss you beyond words. I feel your presence with me each day! I am forever grateful for the great times we shared here on earth and I long for the day when I can hold you in my arms again. You never gave me a lick of trouble. I know you are with God now. Thank you to all of you who have taken time to remember Peter in this site. It has helped me tremendously to realize how beloved Peter has been to so many wonderful people..classmates teachers friends
