Neal was born on August 3, 1942 in Richmond, VA to Kenneth Winslow and Elizabeth Dunlap. He graduated from Garinger High School and CPCC in Charlotte, NC. He proudly served his country as a Seabee in the US Navy on Midway Island. He married Sandy in 1963. They worked hard together, raised their family, built their homes, made friends, and served the Lord around the Charlotte area.Neal’s career was in textiles. He enjoyed the research, creativity, social connections, and travel that his work afforded him and his family. His most rewarding work was with the NC Baptist Men working with disaster relief, building wheelchair ramps, and small engine repairs. Neal always loved music, so whether he was directing the choir, singing in the car, or singing the prayer at Tom and Kelly’s wedding, his voice was a joyful noise. Neal loved to drive. He and Sandy traveled abroad as well as all over town. He had a great sense of humor, a tremendous sense of loyalty, and an amazing capacity to love.Neal was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Elizabeth Winslow and his siblings Marsha Capps and Kent Winslow. He is survived by his wife Sandra Winslow, his son Mark (Kim) Winslow, his daughter Kelly (Thomas) Gwaltney, his grandsons Clayton Gwaltney, Jesse Winslow, Matthew Gwaltney, his brothers Leigh Winslow and Jeffrey (Dayna) Winslow, nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at Noon on September 8, 2022 at Good Shepherd Cemetery - Zoar Campus, 14701 Thomas Road, Charlotte, NC.28278.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Baptist on Mission- Disaster Relief Fund : PO Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512-1107Our family would like to thank the many people who kept Neal in their prayers over these past two and a half years.
