Mr. Michael Darryll McDaniel, 60, of Charlotte, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at Golden Living Center.Born in Charlotte, Michael was a son of the late Browne and Sallie Ila Bailey McDaniel. He was a 1974 graduate of Myers Park High and attended Central Piedmont Community College. Michael enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a VWs enthusiast. He loved anything attached to the “FORD” brand.Surviving are his nephew, Kenny McDaniel II (Misty); three nieces, Sara Kate Hollis (John), Emily Devon McDaniel and Bailey McDaniel; his sisters-in-law, Anita McDaniel and Pat DelMonte, a great-nephews; and two great-niecesMemorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial & Tribute Processing Center, P.O. Mike and I met in eighth grade at Smith Jr. High in Charlotte. He was the only student who had long sideburns. The rest of us couldn't grow anything at that time and that intrigued me for some reason. I found out that we shared a love of blues and rock music and guitars. From then on, Mike and I became friends. With the addition of another friend, Becky, we spent our adolescence attending concerts, movies, and various events together. Mike attended Myers Park High while Becky and I attended Olympic High School. I believe Mike spent more time at Olympic than Myers Park.

Life took us in different directions and places but we kept in touch over the years.
