Meghan Elizabeth Smith, age 34 passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Atrium Main Hospital in Charlotte, NC.Meghan was born October 21, 1987 in Seattle, Washington to Kathryn Olafson-Smith and David J. Smith. She graduated from Fort Mill High School in 2006 and later attended Winthrop University. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Fort Mill, SC.Meghan was beautiful. She carried an inner light that could illuminate any room. She was a popular honors student and enjoyed creative writing. She had a sweet, tender heart and a love for all animals. She once rescued a tiny, feral kitten whom she named “Pickles”. Meg also had a quirky, mischievous sense of humor! In her short life on this earth, she brought much joy to those who loved her.She will be deeply missed by her family. Meghan is survived by her mother, Kathryn Olafson-Smith, Tega Cay, SC; her father, David J. and Renae Smith of Brookhaven, MS; her uncle, Tommy (Phyllis) Smith and her grandparents, Rev. Jimmie and Mary Smith also of Brookhaven; her brother, Erik Olafson, Sheridan, WY; sister, Amanda Berryhill, Brookhaven, MS; nephew, Jordan Hilling, Casper, WY; niece, Chloe Kraft, Casper, WY; her aunts, Anne (Edward) Manor, Sheridan, WY; Mary Blackburn, Cheyenne, WY; Margaret (Chris) Thorleifson, Lake Stevens, WA; Patricia Novotny, Gresham, OR; and uncle, Thomas Novotny, Madison, WI. She is preceded in death by her sister, Kristin Olafson-Kraft, Casper, WY.There will be a Rosary beginning at 5:30 pm, then the family will receive friends from 6pm until 7pm on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Wolfe Funeral Home, 314 Spratt Street in Fort Mill.The funeral mass will be at 9 am, Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road in Fort Mill.
