Mr. Max Alvin Collom, 82, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House.A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Unity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeannie Bickett and Chaplain David Montgomery officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.Born in Parke County, Ind., Mr. Collom was a son of the late Ralph and Catherine Byerly Collom. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1952 and proudly served the U.S. Army for six months and for the Army Reserve for 9 years. Mr. Collom was retired from E.J. Smith and Sons Distributor. He enjoyed woodworking, square dancing and loved traveling to Europe and Hawaii.Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Margaret Hall Collom; his daughter, Amy Lauren Collom of Indian Trail, N.C.; and two brothers, Joe Collom (Janice) of Lindale, Ga. and Ray Collom of Mt.
