Marie McCall Moss

Mrs. Marie Hawkins McCall (Moss), age 64, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at her home, after battling cancer for seven years. She was a very strong-willed woman that survived much longer than expected.A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home, 1055 DonnyBrook Road in Catawba. The public is welcomed to attend.Born in Gainesville, Texas, Marie was a daughter of the late Pickney “Pete” Wyche Hawkins, Jr. and Lillian Janet Bodie Hawkins. She was a past-employee of Springs Industries. Later achieved an associate degree in computer science. Marie was a member of Westerly Hills Baptist Church. A true animal lover, she cared for seven cats and six dogs.Marie is survived by her husband, Doug Moss of 36 years that she was so grateful for and loved so very much. She referred to him as her old man and soulmate. Doug never left her side, caring for her and attending to every wish and need. They were inseparable as they held hands until the end. She also is survived by her children, Deana Worley Bell (Buddy) of Chester, Billy Worley (Angela) of Blacksburg, Chantee Adams (Justin) of Catawba, and Debbie Rollins of Alabama; her brothers and sisters: twins, Becky Koon (Butch) of Lexington and Brenda Kelly (Thom) of California, Robert Franklin (Kathy) of Newberry, Jacob Hawkins of Blacksburg, and Sandra (Mike) of Newberry; eleven grandchildren, Miranda, Timothy, Donny, Anthony, Mitch, Madeline, Kayla, Peyton, Carson, Rusty, and Chris; and nine great-grandchildren.
