Margie Hunter Mahaffey

Mrs. Margie Laney Hunter Mahaffey, age 89, of Fort Mill, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at her home.The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m., Monday, June 4, 2018, at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church and other times at the home, 107 Park Drive. The funeral will follow at 1:30 p.m., with Dr. Tom Tucker and the Rev. Tony Slawson officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.Born in Monroe, N.C., Mrs. Mahaffey was a daughter of the late Marshall and Tavie Strawn Laney. She was a retired cloth inspector from Springs Industries. Mrs. Mahaffey was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught preschool Sunday school class and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday school class. She was a great cook, and enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and doing word search puzzles.Surviving are sons, Wayne Hunter (Sally) and Mike Hunter (Robin) and her daughter, Bessie Bennett (Butch), all of Fort Mill; her brother, Henry Laney of Monroe; seven grandchildren, Rusty, Candie, Scott, Carla, Michael, Heaven and April; 11 great-grandchildren, Haileigh, Cole, Mason, Kyle, Skyler, Eli, Jeremiah, Emma, Lexi, Jacob and Autumn; and three great-great-grandchildren, Ella, Bentley and Khloe.
