Levi Rushing Martin, Buddy to all who knew and loved him, passed away peacefully on 7 September 2017 at the Hospice and Community Care Center of Rock Hill.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Father Ed McDevitt officiating.Born in Mullins, S.C. on 24 July 1927, one of 9 children, he was a loyal employee of Springs Mills, Inc. for almost 40 years. He made many significant contributions to the organization, not the least of which was the forming of a Springmaid facility in Jakarta, Indonesia in the 1970’s. Buddy served during the Korean conflict and was a member of the United States Army’s 12th original Ranger Company, The Young Tigers. His devotion to Panthers football, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars was surpassed only by his loyalty and love for his family and friends. Buddy was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Peggy; and his step-daughter, Skeet Taylor. He is survived by his son, COL Levi R. Martin, Jr. (Leah); a grandson, Levi R. Martin III (Deana), and step-grandchildren; Ned Woolfolk and Elizabeth Woolfolk Carter (Simon); and sister, Sug Fenters of Mullins, S.C.It would be impossible to name all those friends who cared for and meant so much to Buddy. You were all special to him and the family cannot thank you enough for all you have done.In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Hospice & Community Care Center, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill SC 29731. They are truly special people.
