Johnny Spivey Jr.

Mr. Johnny Lee Spivey, Jr., age 59, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Atrium Health Care in Pineville.A COVID-safe memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Glenrock Baptist Church in the parking area. Guests may remain in their cars and be able to hear the service broadcast by P.A. system. Rev. Bart Plaxco and Rev. Gene Flack will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.Born in Myrtle Beach, Johnny was a son of the late Johnny Lee Spivey, Sr. and Betty Jean Polk Spivey. He graduated from and became an instructor for York Technical College. He taught electrical mechanical engineering. Johnny also was employed with Siemens Corp. He served in the National Guard for six years and was a member of Glenrock Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and collecting baseball caps.Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Debra Melton Spivey, his children, Johnny Lee Spivey III (Hannah) and Christy Melton, both of Fort Mill; his brothers, Ronnie Spivey (Brenda) of Fort Mill, Archie Spivey (Angela) of Vale, NC, Rodney Spivey (Laura) of Columbia and Ricky Hardwick of Florida and Donna Calliham (Kevin) of Ninety-Six; his step-mother, Jane L. Rood; and four grandchildren, Mariah, Chandler, Layla and Everett.
