John and I were classmates at BU's College of Engineering from 1965-1969; he was a commuter, like me, and would drive his [yellow] Dodge Dart down from Peabody. At least three highlights we shared while there: [1] the tree-hugging liberals' protest of campus recruiting by military-affiliated orgs, which was brought to the doorsteps of the College of Engineering when it opted to host these banished few; [2] the [football ... yes BU has a team then, going 0-11 I believe] 1968 Homecoming Game Float competition, an all-nighter outdoors in freezing rain which lead to pneumonia for some but a win for the school; [3] the student protest to Dean Hall regarding a CLA Physics 300-level course required of us ... those were some 'strange' dudes in there ... somehow the Ds we all got never mattered.
With [at least] one other classmate, we joined Grumman [Bethpage NY] between May-Sep 1969. [They were feeding off what, at the time, was a huge F-14 contract and were only one of a few companies hiring at the time.] The three of us lived in the same apt complex in Hauppauge NY; he was married to his first wife, Diane, at the the time. I pursued the aero line-of-work [which took me to CA in 1972] while John and Mike drifted off into the 'systems' [computer stuff]. When I touched base with John much later, he had left the Brewster NY area, was living in the Sante Fe area, and was re-married. [The timing may have coincided with our 25-yr Class Reunion ... going to which generated zero interest.]
John was an animated character for sure.
[Being an old fart myself, these recollections may not be 100% accurate but it is what I'm sticking to.]
