John Henry Johnsen Sr. was born July 1, 1944 and passed peacefully on January 20th 2020 after being diagnosed with cancer in September.Born and raised in Chicago, he moved to Charlotte in the 1980s and worked for over 20 years as a manager at a paper distribution company. His greatest joys were being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He spent his final years playing weekly games with friends and family and immersing himself in his love for news and football.John is survived by his loving wife Helen Johnsen, his son John Johnsen Jr., daughter Kim Byrd, stepdaughter Jeannie Haubert, and three adoring grandchildren, Ethan Weil, Mary Evangeline Fitzpatrick, and James G. Fitzpatrick. He will be dearly missed too by James R. Fitzpatrick, Jason Weil, Matrika Johnson, Linda Fox, and all of the extended Johnsen and Golden family.John's funeral mass and internment will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Rock Hill on Saturday January 25th at 2pm.
