John Bradley Hays

Mr. John Bradley “Bubba” Hays, age 80, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 3, 2022. Born in Lounden County, Mississippi, Mr. Hays was a son of the late Kelly Hays and Eloise Tucker Spruill. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the 1st Air Calvary Division in Vietnam. Bubba was born in Mississippi, but grew up in Okeechobee, Florida, where he worked on cattle ranches and enjoyed riding bucking horses and bulls in rodeos. He was a real cowboy. He was also an accomplished home builder in Lake Lure, North Carolina, and also ran a successful gas station in Iva, South Carolina, serving the best hotdogs in the upstate. In his retirement years, he enjoyed beach dancing and breakfast fellowship with his friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hays was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jessica Leigh Hays; and his brother, Terry Hays. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Michael) Rapp; step-mother, Helen Hays; brother, Sterling Hays; his sisters, Jeannette Bony and Jeanie Russel; and his grandchildren, Bradley Rapp and Ashley (Andrew) Cooley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the armed forces veteran’s organization of your choice.
