John Robert Chester

Mr. John Robert Chester, 91, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at his home.A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum on Cherry Road in Rock Hill.Born in Akron, Ohio, Mr. Chester was a son of the late John W. Chester and Aurelia Rothman Chester. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and his master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Mr. Chester served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 41 years of employment. Mr. Chester was a member of Sisk Baptist Church.Surviving are his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Sisler of Fort Mill; his stepson and daughter-in-law Kristopher and Ruth Smith of Naples, Florida; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Joshua, Drew, Ashley and Colt; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Snyder Chester (2008).Read Obituary
