Janet Pate Gaither

Mrs. Janet Pate Gaither, age 62, of Fort Mill, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Piedmont Medical Center.The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Unity Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Dan Holloway officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.Born in Marlboro County, S.C., Janet was the daughter of the late Rembert McRay Pate and Iva Lee Miles Pate. She graduated from Clio High School in Clio, SC, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Winthrop University and her Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. Janet taught public school for a total of 40 years, beginning in Marlboro, Richland and Lexington County School Districts, before coming to the Fort Mill School District. She was employed with the Fort Mill School District from 1986 - 2015, where she taught math at Fort Mill Middle School and was a math specialist at Springfield Elementary School. Janet was a member of Iris Garden Club and Birthday Club. She enjoyed planning trips for her family and friends.Surviving are her husband, William Ernest “Bill” Gaither; two sons, William Ernest “Will” Gather, Jr. (Emily) and Jason “Jay” Pate Gaither, all of Fort Mill; a brother, Randy Pate (Becky) of Clio; two grandchildren, Caroline Edith Gaither and Ella Pate Gaither; brother-in-law, Thomas Kirkpatrick Gaither, Jr. (Judy) of Pawleys Island; nephew, Adam Pate of Lynchburg, Va. and nieces, Jena Pate of Clio, Mandy Gaither Nottingham of Buford, Ga. and Jenny Ciali of Nashville, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at Wolfe Funeral Home and other times at the home.Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Presbyterian Church, P.O.
