James Larry Helms

James Larry “Radar” Helms, age 79, passed from this life into Heaven on 30th day of September, 2018.Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Center. The Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Karen H. Radcliffe officiating. Larry will be buried beside his parents at Unity Cemetery.Larry was born in Marvin, NC and was the son of James Lorane and Dorcas “Dot” Griffin Helms. He worked at Celanese, Winthrop University and Fort Mill Golf Course. Larry was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class. He attended the Unity Presbyterian Senior Center. We will miss his sweet smile and long hugs.Surviving are his brother, Johnny Helms; his sister, Debra Mayes; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Helms; four nieces; and a nephew.
