https://youtu.be/UPwR9WOFnXQThe above link is to view the service for Mr. Grady Ervin.Mr. Grady Carlton Ervin, age 91, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at his home.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, in the Fellowship Hall at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Fort Mill.A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at St. John’s with the Rev. Karen H. Radcliffe officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill following the church service.Born in the Indian Land community, Grady was a son of the late Oliver Tillman Ervin and Carrie Shaw Ervin. He graduated from Indian Land High School in 1946 and served his country in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He worked as a millwright for Bowater Carolina in Catawba for over thirty years. After retirement, he enjoyed working for the Fort Mill Times, Fort Mill Golf Club, and the Peach Stand. Grady also served the Town of Fort Mill, first as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission and then for over three decades as a city councilman. His interest in and commitment to his community never wavered, even following retirement.An avid golfer, Grady spent much of his leisure time at the Fort Mill Golf Club. He enjoyed both the game and the comradery among fellow golfers and staff at the golf course. Interviewed by a reporter from The Charlotte Observer in 2010, he was featured in an article entitled “Speed Golf: 18 Holes, Less than 2 Hours.”Grady was a man of tremendous faith and an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.Grady is survived by the love of his life and wife of 67 years, Betty Mac Bolin Ervin; three daughters, Cheryl Hill (Mike), Marilyn Hagood (Tom), and Susan Morris (Chip), all of Fort Mill; his brothers, John Hubert Ervin (Floy) of Indian Land and Rev. David Franklin Ervin of Spartanburg; sister, Polly Ervin Collins of Rock Hill; three grandchildren, Grady Michael Hill (Elizabeth), Lucille Hagood Wright (Chris), and John Robinson Hagood; two step grandchildren, Robert Case Hill (Kristin) and Anna Katherine Hill Felts; five great grandchildren, including two year old Grady Hagood Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tillman Walker Ervin, Oliver Baxter Ervin, Archie Barron Ervin, and his sister, Annie Ervin Helms Stuart.Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, P.O.
