George William Ford, 76, went home to be with the Lord on June 7, 2016.George was born in Monroe, NC on November 19, 1939 to Sanford and Mae Ford. He moved with his family to Fort Mill before starting school, and he happily spent the rest of his life there. George played basketball and baseball at Fort Mill High School, graduating with the Class of 1959. He also met the love of his life, Elizabeth, at Fort Mill High. They were married on February 24, 1962 at First Baptist Church, Fort Mill.George drove delivery trucks for most of his working life. He worked for Hunter Dairy, Trophy Nuts, Wise Snacks and Action Personnel before retirement. George worked part-time at Wolfe Funeral Home and First Baptist Church in the years following his retirement. He had been an active member of First Baptist Church since 1972. He previously served as an usher and deacon. He also completed seventeen mission trips with Elizabeth.Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Shannon (Aminie) and Jason, all of Fort Mill; and son, Marty (Nicole) of Rock Hill; his sister, Betty Sullivan of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Alex, Jordan, Will, David, Chloe and Julia; his great-granddaughter, Kirkley; eight nieces; and five nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Bish.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at Wolfe Funeral Home.The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Fort Mill on Friday, June 10 at 2 pm. The family will also receive friends after the service.Memorials made be made to First Baptist Church, 121 Monroe White Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

He was a good friend...We surely enjoyed talking about college basketball!
His Duke Blue Devils and my UNC Tar Heels!!
My heart is sad for all of y'all...But Happy for Mr George. Glad to know that we will see him again someday
