Mr. George Nelson “Butch” Boone, age 70, of Fort Mill, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at his home.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until Noon, Wednesday, January 4, 2022, at Wolfe Funeral Home.The funeral service will be private.A Rock Hill native, Butch was a son of the late Yancey Boone and Stella Whitaker Boone. He worked as an auto body technician with Clinton Ford in Rock Hill. Butch was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved watching college and professional sports.Surviving are two children, Angela B. Pulley (Douglas) of Fort Mill and George “Butch” Boone, Jr. (Allison) of Rock Hill; two sisters, Elaine Thomas and Mary Lou Thomas both of Rock Hill; two grandchildren, Blake and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Furr Boone (2002) ); and two sisters, Teresa Boone Gutierrez and Mildred Boone Benton.Read Obituary

We have been neighbors since April of 1983. And if someone had told me then that one day I would mourn him and be missing him. I would have told them they were crazy. As neighbors we have had unimportant squabbles over him throwing deer legs to our dogs, his son shooting birds in our yard, our dog barking and chasing him in his yard and of course the driveway. Stupid stuff.. When the love of his life, his wife Joyce passed away, we weren't friends but he came to us for comfort and compassion. When his girlfriend passed a couple years ago he needed help. And my husband who was already helping him with yard work and odd jobs volunteered ME. First, I cleaned his camper so he could try to sell it. Then it was cleaning her stuff out and vacuuming. Then doing his weekly shopping and taking him a meal or cooking for him. Washing his feet and bandaging an injured toe. But to me, he reminded me of my dad. Wanting me to go to the doctors with him and he wanted me to go in with him. Like he was afraid. I just pray I convinced him that he wasn't a burden to me or anyone else. He was a funny man, who always had a joke. And he will be truly missed by our family! Just wish we had "known" him this way all 40 years.
