Elaine Reinertsen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Elaine Reinertsen, age 76, passed away Thursday, December 3rd, 2020, at the Harborchase at Riverwalk assisted living in Rock Hill, S.C. Memorial services will be held privately by the family. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Elaine was the daughter of the late Ella Tonnessen Pedersen and Peder Pedersen. She graduated from Fort Hamilton high school, in Brooklyn, N.Y. As a teenager Elaine was a star basketball player for her church team in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Always a hard worker typing 130 words a minute, her job at LOOK magazine in NYC was one of her favorites. Bruce had his eye on her in high school and was persistent in making her his bride. Elaine and Bruce both sang in the Chapel Choir and travelled to Norway and sang in various churches. She was the children’s choir director at Montvale church in NJ and also in a ladies trio which she enjoyed immensely. Elaine was an amazing friend to all who knew her and loved her family unconditionally. She adored the beach at Ocean City and sitting on her back deck on James lane, she loved her childhood Brooklyn friends and River Vale church friends like family and never left the house without looking her best. She was classy, caring and so much fun to be around. Elaine will be greatly missed. Surviving is her sister Laila Thompson Jacobsen and husband Jorgen of Fishkill, N.Y.; daughter, Dawn Tanis and her husband, Jim of Fort Mill, S.C.; her daughter-in-law Jill Reinertsen of Fort Montgomery, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Julia, Ella, Michaela, Megan, and Cody. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Bruce Reinertsen (2020) and son, Darren Reinertsen (2017).
