Doris Griffin Ayers

Doris Griffin Ayers 85, born on December 27, 1932 in Livingston County, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29th at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte, NC.Doris was a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in music education. She and her husband Ronald were married in December of 1955 in Bloomington, Illinois. They had been married for 63 years. Doris and Ron served churches as Pastor and wife in Illinois, Colorado, and Michigan. In 2002 they retired from full time ministry and moved to South Carolina to be near their daughter Sharon and family.Doris founded and directed women ministries wherever her husband was pastor. She also had been church organist, reared three children and devoted much of her time enjoying her eleven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed making family photo albums as she was proud of her children and grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents Ray and Olive Griffin, and her son Clayton. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Ronald Ayers; her brother, Stanly of Ohio; son, Clinton (Brenda) of Oro, AZ; and a daughter, Sharon (David) Thiele of Fort Mill, SC; plus eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at Life Point Christian Church, 390 York Southern Road, Fort Mill, SC on Friday, April 13th at 7 p.m.The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be made to St. Jude Hospital for Children.Read Obituary
