Mr. Donald “Doodle” Franklin Blackwell, age 72, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home.The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday December 20, 2022, at the Fort Mill Church of God. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mike Welch and Rev. Larry Nivens officiating. The service will conclude with burial at Unity Cemetery.A Fort Mill native, Don was a son of the late Fort James Blackwell and Madeline B. Blackwell. Don retired from Duke Energy after 42 years of service. He was a dedicated member of the Fort Mill Church of God, where he served on the Usher Committee. Don was a member of the Riverview Fire Department for 10 years and an EMT with the Fort Mill Rescue Squad for 15 years.Mr. Blackwell is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pansy Nivens Blackwell; his son, Brandon Derek Blackwell, and wife (Steph) of Fort Mill; daughter, Autumn Celeste Blackwell of Fort Mill; his granddaughter, Riley Kaicen Blackwell; and his grandson, Christian Coy Blackwell; and grandpup, Caly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fort James and Madeline Blackwell, and brother James Eugene Blackwell.Don enjoyed Christmas, his favorite time of year, and was known for his Christmas light displays. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved the beach and his pal Caly, and enjoyed being a PaPa!He was a proud dad and a man of faith.
