Charles Ray Howie, age 80, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at his home.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Indian Land Baptist Church. The funeral ceremony will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Benny Green and Dr. Roger Brown officiating. Burial will be at Belair United Methodist Church Cemetery.Born in Indian Land, Charles was the last surviving child of the late Richard Hobson Howie and Myrtle Tysinger Howie. He was a member of Indian Land Baptist Church and served as a deacon. Charles was drywall construction manager for Wayne’s Drywall and retired after 20 years of service. He loved to play softball on the church league and built and raced cars at the Lancaster Racetrack. Charles loved to go out to eat and went to Bojangles’ every morning with his “Breakfast Bunch”.Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Jo McClain Howie; two daughters, Sheila Steen(Robby) and Sherry Parker Rivers, both of Indian Land; four grandchildren, Noah Steen and Jacob Steen (Michelle Baine, fiancé), and Ryan Parker (Skylar Moore, girlfriend) and Brooke Parker. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Tracey Howie and Baby Howie; siblings, James Elliott Howie, and Richard Howie, Robert Howie, Harry Lee Howie, Viola Howie and Faye Thacker.Memorials may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O.
