Charles "Red" Adkins

Mr. Charles Thomas “Red” Adkins, age 79, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 10, 2021.The Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. on the lawn of Doby’s Bridge Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service.A Fort Mill native, Red was the youngest of six children born to the late Henry Ezetic Adkins and Marie Gordon Adkins. He graduated from Fort Mill High School in 1962 and entered the United States Navy. Red was the manager of J&M Village Mart on Doby’s Bridge Road for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting and fishing, and even cutting the grass.Surviving is his wife of 59 years Florence “Anne” Bixler Adkins; his sons, Chuck Adkins (Chrystal) of Rock Hill, Shane Adkins (Joni) of York, and Matt Adkins (Sarah) of Rock Hill; his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth “Beth” Adkins of Columbia; his brothers, Pete Adkins (Charlotte) and Gene Adkins (Mary) all of Fort Mill; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Doby’s Bridge Presbyterian Church, P.O.
