Bill went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.Bill and his twin brother, Jim, were born in 1947 to parents, Elbert Alexander Roberts (d. 2003) and Marjorie Ross Roberts (d. 1984). He spent the first part of his life in Rock Hill, South Carolina, graduating from Rock Hill High School in 1965. He continued his education at the University of South Carolina, earning a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Following college, Bill joined the family’s paint contracting business, Roberts Paint Company. The business would later take him to the Myrtle Beach area in the1980’s.Beyond his paint contracting career, Bill had worn other hats as well. He was in sales for MAB Paints, Duron and Glidden Paint Center. Later, he and his wife ran concessions at North Myrtle Beach in the 1990’s and he ran the snack bar at Colonial Charters Golf Course for a time as well. People, food, and golf, these were three of his favorite things. He and Linda picked back up in the paint business under the original “Roberts Paint Company” moniker in 2000. It was a time of hard work with great success. They made a good team and had retired just last year. Up until a few weeks ago, Bill was playing golf practically every day and was looking forward to things to come.Bill was known as a people person and was able to connect with folks from all walks of life. He also was a good Christian, frequently reaching out to folks who needed a little help. Bill’s generosity was amazing. He was a member of Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church. Knowing where he is now will help pull his family through this tragic loss.Bill’s memory will be carried on by his wife of 40 years, Linda Baird Roberts; their daughter, Laura Roberts; his older brother, John Roberts and his wife, Julia, his twin brother, Jimmy Roberts, and his wife, Jane, and his “baby” brother, Joe Roberts and his wife, Barbara; many nieces and nephews; and too many dear friends to count.A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens in Rock Hill, SC. Due to COVID-19, please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
