William Joe Wofford

Mr. William Joe “Bill” Wofford, 83, of Fort Mill, died Thursday, April 10, 2014, at CMC-Pineville.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Fort Mill, S.C., with the Rev. Jeff Bedwell, Ralph Riley and Benny Wade officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Social Hall.Born in Paris, Tennessee in 1930, Mr. Wofford was a son of the late Clyde and Hazel Lawson Wofford. He was an Eagle Scout (1946) and served in the United States Navy (1948). Mr. Wofford retired from Syntech Abrasives in Charlotte, where he was President and CEO. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 35 years.Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mae Bickford Wofford; two sons, Gary Joe Wofford and his wife, Christine of Canton, Michigan, and Steven John Wofford and his wife, Joy of Fort Mill; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lowell Wofford and Ralph L.
