Shawne Fran Dervay

Shawne Fran Dervay, 49, passed away on January 22, 2017 in Pinehurst, NC. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and raised in Wellsville, N.Y. before relocating to Greeneville, Tenn. and then to Rock Hill, S.C. Shawne was living in Southern Pines, N.C. at the time of her passing.After graduating from high school, Shawne earned an associate’s degree from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N.C. For most of her life, she worked in the restaurant business and received recognition and numerous honors from the Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Rock Hill, S.C. with regard to her superior work ethic and excellent customer service skills. Shawne was a huge Carolina Tarheel fan, loved the beach and the theater. She was the most loving and generous person to all her family and friends. Her warm heart and kind spirit, along with her keen sense of humor, will be missed by everyone who knew her.Shawne is survived by her father, John R. Dervay and mother, Marjorie Glosser Gill; her sister, Shannon Dervay; her stepfather, Peter Gill; stepbrothers, Geoff and Chris Gill; an aunt, Shawne Melanie Dervay; three uncles, Doug Dervay, and his wife, Karen; Dana Dervay, and his wife, Joanne, Ray Glosser, and his wife, Jan; and numerous cousins.In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions in Shawne's memory be made to the Bethany House, P.O. Box 2441 Southern Pines, NC 28388; and/or to The Clara McLean House, 20 First Village Dr., Pinehurst, NC 28874.A Celebration of Life honoring Shawne will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Wolfe Funeral home, 314 Spratt St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.
