Richard C. Hutchison

Mr. Richard C. Hutchison, 99, of Fort Mill, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home.The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Wolfe Funeral Home. The funeral service will be private.Born in Wadesboro, Mr. Hutchison was a son of the late Benjamin Henry Hutchison and Hattie Caraway Hutchison. He graduated from Polkton High School. Mr. Hutchison served as First Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre in Company K Infantry Division. He served in the National Guard 37 as Master Sergeant. He moved to Fort Mill in 1937 and he and his brother owned and operated Hutchison’s Dry Goods. Mr. Hutchison later retired from Celanese. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Mr. Hutchison was a founding member and past-president of the Fort Mill Field Trial Association.Surviving are his son, Richard Burge Hutchison, Sr. and his wife, Martha Nims Hutchison of York; two grandchildren, Richard B. Hutchison, Jr. and Christy Lee Hutchison both of York.
