Mr. Richard Patrick “Jake” Costello, Sr., 84, of Tega Cay, died Monday, May 16, 2016.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. The Memorial Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Father John Giuliani, C.O. officiating.Born in Essington, Penn., Jake was a son of the late John Joseph Costello and Mary Elizabeth Kelly Costello. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War Era. Jake received an associate degree from Central Piedmont Community College and retired from Westinghouse. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Jake enjoyed all sports.Surviving are four sons, Richard Costello Jr. (Leta), Tom Costello (Sue), Tim Costello (Tammy) and Brian Costello (Sherre); grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Adam, Brad and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Laney and Liam. I had the pleasure of working with Jake at Westinghouse and will always remember him for his helpfulness, knowledge, positive attitude and humor. We enjoyed seeing him at St. Vincent De Paul church and hearing about his house at the beach. We are fortunate to have known his and are saddened by his passing.

I will always remember Jake as my most helpful mentor while I was training at Westinghouse. When I look back I thank God for Jake's patience with me for I certainly would not have made it without him. I have thought often of Jake during my retirement years and I know the family will miss him greatly. Certainly my life was blessed by his!
