Mr. Paul A. Luckadoo, 94, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at his home. The funeral will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Shannon Ford officiating. There will be a brief visitation following the service. Burial will at Neely’s Creek A.R.P. Church Cemetery in Rock Hill. Born in Mooresboro, N.C., Mr. Luckadoo was a son of the late William Wesley Luckadoo and Dovie Etta Ledford Luckadoo. He married Margaret Prue Falls in 1942. For 73 years they had a loving relationship until she passed away earlier this year. Mr. Luckadoo worked at Park Yarn Textiles in Kings Mountain, N.C. before moving to Fort Mill. He retired from Celanese after 32 years of service. Devoted Christians, Mr. Luckadoo and his wife raised their children at First Baptist Church in Fort Mill where they were all members. During World War II, Mr. Luckadoo served in the U.S. Army and served time as a P.O.W. He was a member of the Eli Bailes American Legion Post 43. On September 3, 2015, he was recognized by Governor Nikki Haley as one of South Carolina’s only surviving World War II P.O.W.’s during a ceremony at the State House. Surviving are his daughter, Paula Luckadoo Horne (Donald Edward Horne) of Catawba; his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Johnson Luckadoo of Virginia; his brother, Calvin Luckadoo (Doris) of Ellenboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Todd Horne of Rock Hill, Donna Annette Horne Young of Fort Mill and Ashley Claire Luckadoo McDonald of Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Victoria Allison Shehan of Rock Hill, Thomas Kort Shehan of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Anna Kate McDonald and Joshua McDonald, both of Texas. In addition to his wife, Mr. Luckadoo was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Dean Luckadoo (2004); four brothers, Hubert, who died serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII, also Pickney, Ernest and Clevie Luckadoo; and his sister, Eva Luckadoo Hamrick. The family is sincerely grateful to granddaughter, Donna Young, for the dedication and compassionate care she has provided to both grandparents.
