Mrs. Maureen Jocelyn Orton Phillips, 88, of Fort Mill and also from Glens Falls, NY, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at CMC-Pineville.The service will be held privately. Born in Leistershire, England, Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late Edgar and Sybil Baum Orton. She was an office worker for British Steam Filters. During WWII, she met her future husband, Stanley Louis Phillips who was serving in the 82nd Airborne in the U.S. Army. When the war ended, he came back to England to marry her and bring her back to the States. They lived in Hudson Falls, N.Y. and loved to travel to Florida. They were married for 68 years when he passed away in 2014. She worked in the cafeteria of Hudson Fall High School for 25 years and was a member of Zion Episcopal Church for many years.Surviving are her daughter, Christine LaViolette and her husband, Michael of Fort Mill; two grandchildren, Danielle Clark (Aaron) and Michael LaViolette (Cristina); and five great-grandchildren, Emily, Elliot, Tarin, Sofia and Alexia. In addition to her husband, she preceded in death by her brother, Shannon Orton.Read Obituary
