Marianna Hoagland Bailey, 92, was born April 4, 1922 to Thomas Clarence and Edith Lee Hoagland in Fort Mill, South Carolina. She grew up in Lockhart, South Carolina. She married Paul Willard Bailey in March of 1942. He immediately entered the Army and she waited for his return. Upon his return from the war, they moved to Myrtle Beach South Carolina; then to Charlotte making that their home for over 60 years. In 2009, when Paul passed away, she moved to Knoxville, Tennessee to be with her daughter and family. She loved her family and loved making a home for them. She loved sewing, gardening and was a wonderful cook. She was the definition of a true southern lady.Preceded in death by her parents Thomas Clarence and Edith Hoagland; her husband, Paul Willard Bailey; her daughter, Paula Ann Bailey Starling; and sisters, Nancy Hoagland Cathey Deaton, Ruth Hoagland Heafner, Betty Hoagland Ray and Dorothy Jo Hoagland Buskirk.Survived by her daughter Karen Lee Bailey Cobb and husband Frank. Her grandchildren Bobby Hal Starling, Jennifer Ann Starling, Bryan Paul Cobb and Brandon Lee Cobb. Her great grandchildren Felicia Ann Mariani, Kandace Nichoal Mariani and Kathryn Bailey Cobb. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and she loved them all.Graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 6, at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
