Mr. Jon Hubert Blankenship, age 82, died Thursday, February 1, 2018, at his home.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:50 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2018, at Flint Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at Noon, with Dr. Larry Twitty and the Rev. Ronnie Neely officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.Born in Fort Mill, Jon was a son of the late Charles Pruitt Blankenship and Sadie Kimbrell Blankenship. He graduated from Fort Mill High School and attended Clemson University and Wofford University. Jon was a retired postmaster from the U.S. Postal Service and was a very active member of Flint Hill Baptist Church, where he and his wife taught Children’s Sunday School Class. Jon was a S.C. Auctioneer, a wedding director, and a golf pro at the Fort Mill Golf Club.Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Raby Blankenship; his children, Christy Blankenship of Rock Hill and Jon A. Blankenship (Michelle) of Fort Mill; his sister, Mary Moss of Richburg; and five granddaughters, Olivia, Maria, Abby, Ellie and Ava. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Blankenship; and his sister, Jane Whitley.Memorials may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 269 Flint Hill Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

So very sorry to hear of Jon's dying. I can tell you one thing the Fort Mill Post Office has never run right since his days there. My dining room table faces the back of my house and I have some fond memories of looking back there seeing Jon's cows. Then I felt as though I lived in the country. Same house same look out the back windows but it sure is not country any more. Jon will be surely be missed by everyone who knew him. He was for sure one of the good guys
