Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth Fields “Janie/Tootsie” Collins, 90, of Fort Mill, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, at her home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Karen Radcliffe officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery. Born in Belton, S.C., Mrs. Collins was a daughter of the late Harold Fields and Carrie Elizabeth McCoy. She was employed at Springs Industries and retired from Celanese. Mrs. Collins was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, knitting and making lace. Mrs. Collins also enjoyed cooking, gardening and entertaining family and friends.Surviving are her children, Richard “Gene” Collins of Fort Mill and Janice Collins Armstrong and her husband, David, Fort Mill; her step-mother, Ann Fields of Seneca; her sister, Doris Fields Bell of Fort Mill; step-sisters, Dianne and Vickie of Seneca; eight grandchildren, Roger Collins of Fort Mill, Jamie Collins of Rock Hill, Tammy Collins Frailey of Clover, Teresa Collins Windham of Gastonia, N.C., Courtney Armstrong of Fort Mill, Justin D.C. Armstrong of Fort Mill, Josh Collins of Charlotte and Don Albert Collins of Charlotte; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Bun” Collins; and her son, Dennis Roger Collins.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Wolfe Funeral Home.
