Mr. Harry Edward Wylie, 85, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at his home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel, with Father John Giuliani, CO, Pastor Greg Baker and Mr. Mike Masterman officiating. Burial will be at Crown Memorial Park.Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Wylie was a son of the late Harry and Kathleen Boggins Wylie. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant. Mr. Wylie graduated from Colgate University on a football scholarship. He was a retired insurance salesman. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and attended St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, where he served on the Parrish Council. Harry also attended the Prism Sunday School Class at Central Church of God in Charlotte. He enjoyed swimming, golfing and playing tennis. Mr. Wylie was a football fanatic, especially the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Following his retirement, he worked for Sam’s Club, Goodwill and Food Lion.Surviving are his wife, Doris Joann Stonebreaker Allen Wylie; his children, Hank Wylie of Dripping Spring, Tex., Shawn Bonner of Boerne, Tex., Kellee Wylie and Susan Waikel, both of Atlanta; his stepchildren, Robert Bayer of Leo, Ind., Andrea Hudson and Laura Claxton, both of Fort Mill and Sarah Robinson of Weddington, N.C; his sister, Margaret Hill of Fairfax, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Wolfe Funeral Home.
