Mr. Gary Wayne Helms, 62, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill. Burial will follow at Belair United Methodist Church in Indian Land.Born on August 30, 1954, in Fort Mill, Gary was a son of the late Allen William Helms and Flossie Viola Belk Helms. He was retired from Beers Construction Company as a superintendent. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids and later in life spending time taking care of his two dogs.Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Doris Marie Helms; his daughter, Brenda Jamie Helms of Oceanside, CA; his stepchildren, Chris Kuntz (Katherine) of John’s Island, Jason Kuntz of Fort Lawn, Krystal Kuntz of Rock Hill and Kenny Jackson of Fort Lawn; three sisters, Mary Anne Helms Moss of Rock Hill, Terri Lynn Hunter and Jerri Lynn Hunter, both of Lowrys; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, James and Ronald Helms and Bobbi Jean Buckley.The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Wolfe Funeral Home.
