Mrs. Elma Sullivan McKinney, 87, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, in Prosperity, S.C. at her daughter Cathy’s home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Fort Mill Church of God, with the Rev. Debbie Dyches and the Rev. Bob Lang officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. Born in Jefferson, Mrs. McKinney was one of 16 children born to the late Chapman Levi Sullivan and Bessie Pittman Sullivan. She was retired from Springs Industries, where she worked as a spinner for 40 years. Mrs. McKinney was a founding member of the Fort Mill Church of God and the Young at Heart. She was a busy homemaker and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Mrs. McKinney won first prize at the S.C. State Fair for baking cakes. She was a Christian lady and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Surviving are her son, Charles R. McKinney (Sara Jo) of Fort Mill; her daughters, Cathy McKinney Blackwelder (Vic) of Prosperity and Elizabeth Becknell of Fort Mill; two brothers, Arizona Sullivan of Fort Mill and Jerry Sullivan (Libby) of Jefferson; two sisters, Joyce Wilson of Indian Land and Linda Jenkins (Kenny) of Mt. Crogan; grandchildren, Matt and Cody Blackwelder, Allison McKinney Hendrix, Emily Tennant Canfield and Benjie Tennant; and great-grandchildren, Mary Bishop, Benjamin Canfield, Colt Blackwelder and Miles Hendrix. Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Donald McKinney (1998); two grandchildren, Ben McKinney and Mike Tennant; and siblings, Leatha Donahue, Everette Sullivan, Dorothy Huggins, Yvonne Steen, Beatrice Allen, David Sullivan and Gladys Lear.The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, at Wolfe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
