Mrs. Doris Howe Davis of Fort Mill, S.C. passed away March 2, 2018 in Charlotte at Carolinas Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.She was born in Blacksburg, S.C. and was the daughter of the late George Howe and Velma Black Howe. She was predeceased by the love of her life, James Byrum Davis, Sr., to whom she was married for more than 30 years. She also was predeceased in death by her siblings, Paul Howe, Leroy Howe, Earl Howe, Virginia Patrick, Lucille Langley, Marvin Howe and Geraldine Coley.Surviving are her children, Angie and husband Michael Osborne, Jimmy and wife Anne Davis; grandchildren, Jamie and husband Lane Kimbrell, Gray Davis and Zach Davis; sisters, Mary Lyons, Betty and husband Jerome Finley, James Howe and wife Charlene, niece, Aimee Newman; and nephew Shayne Coley.While Doris was raised in Fort Mill, she lived in Pineville, N.C. for more than 20 years. She moved back to Fort Mill after the death of her husband in 1998. Although she enjoyed the many years she worked for Celanese Corporation in Charlotte and running her licensed home day care she especially loved the last 20 years that she worked for ADESA Car Auction in Charlotte until the time of her death. Her family enjoyed her down home cooking, her feisty demeanor and could always find her playing Bingo every Friday night at the American Legion Post #43 in Fort Mill.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill. A Celebration of Life to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Austin officiating.
