Mr. Donny Wayne Humphreys, 68, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at CMC-Pineville in Charlotte, NC surrounded by family.Born in Paris, Texas, Donny was a son of the late Dennis Clayton Humphreys and Joyce Richardson Humphreys. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As a Combat Veteran, SP5 Donny performed his duties as a Helicopter Door Gunner. His actions earned him the Air Medals/15, Army Soldier’s Medal for heroic acts and the Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged on 23 April, 1971. He continued his service an active passionate veterans’ advocate. He owned D&T Casing in Levelland, Texas which he operated with his father, Dennis, and his brother, Ronnie. He then moved his family to Alabama where he worked for Tuscaloosa Steele and finished his career as a manager for AutoZone. He then moved to be closer to his family in North and South Carolina.Music was Donny’s true passion, he sang and could play almost any instrument. A devout Christian, Donny served as Director of Music for South Plains Church in Levelland and later at New Covenant/Day Star Church in Alabama. He was true version of a family man and a devoted grandfather.Surviving him include his wife of 47 years, Martha Jane Jones Humphreys; his two daughters, Brandy Baudoin d’Ajoux (Bo) of Jacksonville, FL and Christina Cecka (Michael) of Fort Mill, SC; son, Anthony Humphreys of Rock Hill, SC; two brothers, D.J. Humphreys (Karen) of Lubbock, TX and Ronnie Humphreys (Sharon) of Levelland, TX; his sister, Melinda Modawell (Lanny) of Lubbock, TX; nine grandchildren, Sheyenne, Abby, Ryan, Brandon, Jessie, Isabella, Peyton, Alexandra and Xavier; and three great-grandchildren.Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Project P.O.
