Mr. Daniel Lee Shomate, 33, of Fort Mill, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at his home.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Wolfe Funeral Home, 314 Spratt Street in Fort Mill. The Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Philip T. Glennon Center, 15083 Molokai Drive, Tega Cay 29708. Born in Hudson, NC, Daniel was the only child born to Ricky Leonard Shomate and Sheila Mae Brown Shomate. He graduated from South Caldwell High School in 2000 and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from UNC-Charlotte in 2004. Daniel was an Ad Operations Inventory Manager with American City Business Journals and attended Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, both in Charlotte. He enjoyed fishing and playing softball; but, above all, he loved his wife and his boys.Surviving are his wife, Rachel Knecht Shomate; his sons, Lucas Thomas Shomate and Reed Maddox Shomate, of the home; maternal grandparents, Judy Teague and step-maternal grandfather, Ernie Teague; maternal grandparents, Carlton Brown of Granite Falls, NC; and paternal grandmother, Georgia Shomate of Mountain City, TN.Memorial contributions may be made to the Lucas Shomate Scholarship Fund (Acct. # 3370133955 for the Sons), c/o Wells Fargo, 2890 Hwy. 160 West, Tega Cay, SC 29708; or to American Cancer Society for Research; 128 Stonemark Lane – Westpark Plaza, Columbia, SC 29210-3885.Read Obituary
