Mrs. Betty Fite Boatwright, age 81, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2015 at Wolfe Funeral Home and from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday at the home of Jim and Debbie Grumbles, 116 Lazenby Drive in Fort Mill. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Boatwright officiating.Born in Fort Mill, Mrs. Boatwright was the oldest of seven children born to the late Horace Jackson Fite and Katie Mae Love Fite. She was employed by Springs Industries and retired from Henley Paper (Atlantic Paper) in Charlotte and was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and canning the fruits of Tommy’s garden. Mrs. Boatwright also enjoyed reading, working on needlepoint and collecting Christmas Snow Villages.Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Tommy Boatwright; her children, Gene Boatwright of Mt. Holly, N.C., Debbie Grumbles (Jim) of Fort Mill, Tammy Carter (Frank) of Fort Mill and Darrin Boatwright (Rose) of Charlotte; three brothers, John Fite of Laurinburg, N.C., Donald Fite of Apopka, Fla., and Bob Fite of Tega Cay; two sisters, Dottie Hunter of Fair Play, S.C. and Esther Lucas of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Victoria, Jackson and Grayson; and two great-grandchildren, Lawson and Anna. She was preceded in death by her baby brother, Milton Fite.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
